LMTA  Play-a-thon

Play-a-thon is the vehicle to generate funds for Save Our Students (formerly Students Helping Students) program of LMTA.

            It’s easy to help!

Select a performance date and site, get forms from LMTA website for each teacher to give to their students.  Have students choose pieces they want to play for the event.  Memorization is not required, but quality performance is.  Students solicit sponsors for their performances at $1.00 per performance minute.  Each teacher totals the times of all students in the studio and requests a block of performance time during the event.

Create a play-a-thon and publicize it in the community.  The theme or style of the play-a-thon is entirely up to the affiliate or teacher who presents it.  Adding family members who perform or non-member players is optional.  Students collect the money and the treasurer sends it to LMTA for Students Helping Students Fund.

Typical uses of the fund include $50 tuition one month for piano lessons, piano tuning or repair, music and keyboard ($150 maximum) purchases.  Teachers must submit a written application for funds specifying the student’s needs.  Funding decisions are made by director, Sue Steck-Turner, and a committee.
